JM part 1 (Week 1 to Week 5)

Hi, this my first time ever writing for a blog,
So this is about our Jalinan Masyarakat progress throughout Week 1 till Week 5. It's in the daily form instead of the whole week being put in a paragraph. Enjoy reading...


Week 1

Tuesday, 18 Feb, 2020
Izzati forward the messages group chat from Dr. Arpah regarding briefing session on next Monday, 24 Feb at 1pm.
We all thought this date is for the Social engagement (SE) course while actually it’s for Bioinformatics students’ meeting with Dr Arpah.
Wednesday, 19 Feb, 2020
Briefing for SE and 1st unofficial meeting without Dr. Arpah and everything through whatsapp.
Decided that we will have meeting on every Monday, 11am to 1p.m
Izzati also mentions about the twist for this semester’s SE different from previous batch. It is to benefit on both sides during the event, the students and the participants.
Suggestion date of event is around 18 April to 22 April.
Friday, 21 Feb, 2020
Brainstorming idea for the events on whatsapp.
Task:
1.       Decide who will be leading and people in charge.
2.       Present the idea on the meeting

Week 2

Monday, 24 Feb, 2020
First official meeting of SE with Dr. Arpah.
Dr. Arpah briefing about the SE and SULAM. Everything that need to be prepared before, during and after the events.
Presenting ideas but all of it rejected since it’s only benefit one side, the participant.
Decided on the people in charge.
So Zamir as the president, Izzati as the secretary, Bing as treasurer and Chao Hong as deputy secretary.
And the others divided into four bureaus, which are Sponsorship, Protocol, Multimedia, and Logistic.
So I get into Sponsorship bureau with Chan, Hema and Sanussha, lead by Darvin.
Tuesday, 25 Feb, 2020
Izzati forwarded the slides and the guideline for the report into the groupchat.
Task:
1.       New idea for the event
2.       Date of the event
3.       Log book preparation

Week 3

Monday, 2 March, 2020
2nd Meeting started at 11.am without Dr. Arpah because she got meeting, but she will come after her meeting finish.
So Zamir start the meeting with introduction and everything but before he can go deeper, he suggested that each one of us to introduce ourselves since we barely know each other.
After get to know each other, Zamir proceed to the next agenda is introducing their ideas for the events.
We decide to go to school of unfortunate children in Kuala Lumpur and help them.
Then Question and Answer session just to make everything clear.
Everyone had meeting on respective bureaus.
Sponsorship team thinking of possible ways to get money.
Dr. Arpah arrived and Zamir had a meeting with her, the conclusion of the event being rejected again.
Bureaus still go along with the meeting respectively, example; either way sponsorship still need to find money.

Reminder on starting to write log book

Coming up with new ideas and already discuss with Dr. Arpah and approved.
Event community service at Kampung Sungai Sembilang.
Brainstorming on what to sell to collect money
I need to find sponsorship for T-shirts for around 60 people (students and participants)

Saturday, 7 March, 2020
We go site visit.
Representative for each bureaus, president and secretary. (6 people)
Zamir (pres), Izzati (sec), Naz (logistic), Tasha (Protocol), Kok (Multimedia and me (sponsorship)
First meeting with the village mayor and his secretary at community hall (soon be the base of the event).
Finding homestay and look around the beach at Kampung Sungai Sembilang.
Task:
1.       Finding possible sponsorship
2.       Ways to get money
3.       Bureaus presentation next meeting

Week 4

Monday,  9 March, 2020
3rd meeting, Zamir first introduction, and talked about what happened last weekend.
Slides with photos of location of the event, the beach, and where we will stay for 3 days and 2 nights (suggestion).
Next up, sponsorship presentation, Darvin talk about the possible sponsorship we can approach, and how much money we need by either selling stuffs or donation.
Logistic update by Abi (leader), she already contact the bus driver and later about the food preparation.
Then, multimedia team show the blog, instagram account and logo for our this program.
Lastly, protocol team, Sabrina, explain on the activities.

Sponsorship rejection due to suddenly request and not enough time for them to prepare.

Shirt sponsorship interested on our event.
Update on the shirts size, quantity and price.
Friday, 13 March, 2020
COVID-19 strikes UM, all classes cancel until further notice.
Saturday, 14 March, 2020
Zamir announce in the group chat the event cancelled.
Task:
1.       Keep searching for sponsorships  - CANCEL
2.       Find place to stay - CANCEL
3.       Find restaurants - CANCEL

Week 5

Monday, 16 March, 2020
E-learning week starts.
Official statement by Dr. Arpah, SE activity community is cancelled. But the course is still running with different approaches.
Task:
1.       Cancellation email to the sponsorship.

            So it's kinda sad that suddenly Malaysia being hit by the COVID-19 outbreak so drastically it even hit UM since we got some cases in some faculties, as a result every hard work we have done for this past weeks is a waste. I don't really know about the others but as a sponsorship, It's really hard to even find one, but then need to cancel all of them because of this. Also Mid Semester Break starting from 23 March, 2020 to 26 April, 2020 (5 weeks) due to covid-19 outbreaks. 



      I just hope everyone take care of themselves, stay hygiene, stay inside their house and stay safe.
